KUALA LUMPUR (17th April 2010) – Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has introduced the latest addition to the Navara Premium Sports Utility Truck (SUT) line-up – the new Navara Calibre 4X2 Automatic.

Like the award-winning 4X4 Navara Automatic, the Navara Calibre 4X2 is a compelling combination of strong performance, bold styling and outstanding features, with a powerful yet fuel-efficient 4X2 drivetrain able to take on all obstacles whether in town or in the outskirts.

The new Navara Calibre 4X2 features the powerful YD25DDTi common rail direct injection diesel engine. This 2.5-Litre turbo-charged four-cylinder engine incorporates a Variable Nozzle Turbocharger (VNT) and intercooler for strong response at low RPM to deliver a class-leading 144ps and a maximum torque of 356Nm, it is mated to an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission, ideal for urban crawls or off-road manoeuvres. Additionally an engine balancer shaft system is employed for superior Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) suppression.

While the Navara Calibre 4X2 embodies the true spirit of the “Mother Trucker”, behind its muscular and aggressive external body lies a spacious interior that pampers its passengers with car-like comforts and practicality. The suspension of the Navara Calibre 4X2 also offers surefooted stability and ride comfort in all driving conditions courtesy of an independent double-wishbone front suspension with coil springs and leaf-spring rear suspension with shock-absorbers.

To keep its occupants safe, the Navara Calibre 4X2 is designed with the Zone Body concept offering optimum protection for passengers by compartmentalizing the cabin into a Crushable Zone and a Safety Zone. Its safety features include anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electric brake force distribution (EBD) on all four independent wheels to ensure proper brake force in accordance with load on each wheel.
